This month, a message on the upcoming Workshop Two of the Global Export Control Program (GECP) and the launch of ECAG Membership on 1 July. Plus the Navigator Journal examines the latest developments in Russia sanctions, and we open our industry survey for participation.
A Message from
ECAG’s CEO
With Workshop One of the Global Export Control Program (GECP) behind us, April has been about preparation, both for what’s ahead in the program, and for something we’ve been building towards for some time.
Workshop Two next month in Canberra focuses on how AUKUS is reshaping Australia’s engagement with allied systems. David Nockels, First Assistant Secretary Defence Trade, Regulation and Industrial Collaboration at the Department of Defence, will present to the cohort.
I’m also pleased to share that the ECAG Membership program goes live on 1 July. A goal of ours has always been to build a professional home for the export controls community. Membership is how we make that real.
Full details will follow throughout June. At launch, members can expect:
Exclusive early access to the Navigator Journal and podcast
Expert analysis from contributors across industry and academia
In this month’s Navigator Journal, IFCBAA’s Brad Leonard sets out why sanctions risk has moved well beyond direct trade with Russia.
The exposure now sits in ownership structures, intermediaries, and supply chains — where legitimate-looking transactions can still trigger payment blocks, shipping delays, and escalation by compliance teams.
With regulators focused on circumvention, sanctions and export controls are no longer adjacent compliance issues. They are part of everyday trade, and the case for end-to-end supply chain visibility has never been stronger.
We’re running a short industry survey to map where Australian organisations sit on compliance, capability, and risk. It takes 2–3 minutes, and your input will help shape ECAG’s priorities for the year ahead.
