Seminar: Potential Business Opportunities Created by AUKUS, Tuesday 1st July 2025

Date: Tuesday 1st July 2025
Location: TBC

The hugely significant regulatory changes that were introduced in Australia, the UK and US in 2024, following extensive consultations across the three nations, have been potentially revolutionary in their implications for co-development and co-production efforts between the three nations. When the final details of these changes were formally announced in Autumn 2024, there was huge interest within the three nations’ industries in the possibilities of them opening up considerable potential commercial benefits and new business opportunities. Now, some 10 months’ on from these changes being introduced and implemented, ADS Group is seeking to organize, with its close collaborative partner at Squire Patton Boggs (https://www.squirepattonboggs.com/en), and in cooperation with the UK and US governments, a hybrid briefing to enable UK organisations to have a better perception on what some of those potential business opportunities might be, and what early adopters’ practical experiences have been of the benefits that have resulted.

It has to be noted, right from the start, that the changes are NOT purely associated merely with AUKUS-related programmes, but are across the board and potentially would encompass ALL projects and technologies between the three nations which are outside of the very limited scope of the related “Excluded Technologies List” (summarized at: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-126/appendix-Supplement%20No.%202%20to%20Part%20126). Thus, the vast majority of UK firms who do, or have aspirations to be able to pursue, commercial activities and potential business opportunities with both the US and Australia, can make use of these changes to assist them in significantly reducing the bureaucracy that would, otherwise, have been involved in their efforts, even if these have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with any of the AUKUS-related projects that have been outlined by the three governments.

In essence, this event, will seek to build on other activities that have been being undertaken across the three nations since March 2024, and to generate greater awareness of the very real, practical and tangible benefits of these regulatory changes and how UK firms can seek to take advantage of these.
