EGADD / Export Control Joint Unit – Upcoming Training Events – Oct / Nov 2019

Members are reminded that EGADD’s Training Sub-Committee, working in close collaboration with the Business Awareness Team at the Export Control Joint Unit, is planning on running a number of training events during the latter half of 2019, to assist in enhancing awareness of export control compliance issues. Amongst these proposed events will be a one-day UK and US export controls BEGINNERS’ event in London on Tuesday 1st October 2019, and a more detailed, 2-day INTERMEDIATE event, also due to take place in London, on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st November.

The one-day beginners’ event will consist of key updates and specific topic sessions delivered by industry experts, along with breakout workshops and networking opportunities, covering generic issues which are of common relevance across the export control fraternity. This is a “must attend” event for practitioners at the BEGINNER level working in export controls and is ideal for those new to this discipline, with specially compiled information having been put together by the EGADD Training Sub-Committee’s Government and Industry experts. It will also be relevant for those involved in other discipline areas who need to have some awareness of export control issues.

The follow-up two-day intermediate event has been put together by the Training Sub-Committee to be focused on the more experienced practitioners, with the first day focused on the compliance issues associated with UK export controls, whilst the second day will be dedicated to those arising from complying with US export controls, which is a vitally important topic for any UK firms who deal with technology sourced from the US.

Subjects proposed to be covered include:

Day One:

  • UK legislation, Criteria, NGO interest;
  • Demonstration of the UK’s Licensing System;
